✏️ Preparing for the Moment
After the 1929 election resulted in the ousting of the Conservative government, Winston Churchill faded into the background of British politics. He would call these years “the wilderness years” — Churchill was prone to depression, was battling financial debts, and struggled with alcoholism and health problems. But in the interwar years, Churchill continued to develop himself and his skillset, whilst staying true to his political values and waiting for the right moment. He began work on a biography and autobiography, and continued to be outspoken against the rise of Nazism, German remilitarization, and the appeasement policies of the current government. In 1940, when Neville Chamberlain’s ill health and unpopularity forced his resignation, a new leader willing to take on the Nazi tyranny was needed — and there was Winston, ready to seize the moment.
Where you are in life will not be where you are 20 years from now. It is to your benefit to ensure that when you reach pivotal opportunities in life, you are ready to seize the moment. Continual growth and progress towards your Life’s Task will prepare you to capitalize on the life-changing moments that are to come.
The years blow by but the days are long. Don’t sit and sulk about small defeats and setbacks — the sun always sets and new opportunities will arise.

📖 Book of the Week — The Daily Laws by Robert Greene
I have become quite a fan of Robert Greene’s work ever since I encountered the 48 Laws of Power as an undergraduate. His understanding of human nature, sociology, and politics, coupled with his unique writing style, is what stands out to me most. His most recent work, The Daily Laws, is essentially all of his books distilled into short daily passages — it has recently found a place in my daily reading routine, in addition to the Old Testament (currently on Leviticus), because of its range and digestibility. Would definitely recommend getting his other books for more detail, but this is nonetheless a great read.
