Time Capsule #40
On truth, King Arthur, and squatting every day.
✏️ On Truth
The truth is like a lion; you don’t need to defend it. Let it loose, it will defend itself.
Saint Augustine of Hippo
I reckon there is more than one way to lie. When we think about lying, we typically think of lying through speech: by knowingly telling someone something you know to be false, you are certainly lying. But I think it possible to lie in many other ways: in silence, in listening, in action.
The truth is much more than the opposite of falsehood. The truth is a way of life — one built on integrity and honesty. We are truthful in our work by giving our best effort. We are truthful in our relationships by being open, honest, and transparent. We are truthful by dealing gracefully with the daily tasks life sets before us.
Your relationship with the truth is one of the most important relationships you will have in life. It is reflective of your relationship with yourself and the world — it is a reflection of your values and your discipline.
Choosing a life of truth is to choose the noble life.

📖 Book of the Week — The Story of King Arthur and His Knights by Howard Pyle
Howard Pyle adapted the English stories of King Arthur into this children’s novel retelling the story of his life, from the winning of the great Excalibur sword to the winning of the Lady Guinevere. I remember reading this book in primary school whilst listening to Akon’s Locked Up on repeat on my 1st generation iPod nano. Anytime I hear that song it brings back fond memories of this book.
💭 Quote of the Week
Sit with it. Sit with it. Sit with it. Sit with it. Even though you want to run. Even when it's heavy and difficult. Even though you're not quite sure of the way through. Healing happens by feeling.

💡 Food for Thought
What do you do on your worst days? What do you do on your best days?
Avoid the former and do more of the latter.
